Poverty:

What is Poverty?

Poverty: (Noun) The state or condition of having little or no money goods or means of support; condition of being poor.

  • Synonyms: neediness, destitution, indulgence, pauperism, penury
  •  Antonyms: riches, wealth, plenty.

Quick Write:

  • Where do you see poverty in your community? I see poverty in different area's around my community. I see broken down houses because people aren't helping a person out. I normally see people living in tents around: parks or going down different streets. That doesn't mean our community is bad, it just means that we are not giving the help we should to people in need. There should be more funds, to support struggling families, to help the middle class not drop to such extremes as to go even lower than they already have. To create such means of support.
  • Think about facts and statistics we discussed. What did you already know? I already knew a lot about poverty. I did a research project on this topic in 4th grade. The facts and statistics are very complex it much more than just race, it about people not getting the funds they need. The Mexican and Black communities are the most in need because they have are the most of the population so that means they need to have sufficent help.
  • What surprised you? Nothing did.
