Why I want to go to college?
I want to attend college because I want to educate myself fully. I want to be able to learn more and meet new people and gain a whole new experience away from home. This video didn't really effect how I view college because I already want to go. I have wanted to attend college since I was very young. I have always had a love for the study of the brain and kids so I will study pediatrics or psychology. I will always have a passion to learn more and college will help me towards my goals.

Showcase Reflection
I didn't get any professionals, I got teachers and parents. I don't think it was fair that people who spent less time than I did got more professionals. I think that wasn't very fair.

Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences were very easy to do. We wrote a letter to our parents about coming to the event and we collected assignments from all of our classes to show our parents. All we had to do was invite our parents and show them the assignments instructed to. We talked to our parents and had a reflection sheet to do with them.
Pros:
- We got to see what our teachers want us to reflect on.
Cons:
- It was just our parents and us
- Some teachers didn't give us assignments to put into the portfolio.
- The reflection sheet didn't help with the conference.

Student Success Statement
"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. Its about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." Dr. Randy Pausch
Summary: The whole idea is that when you do good things you can make sure that you are on the right path. You will have a happy life and a good outcome. You will be the best person you can be and make everyone around you happy. That's the base of this idea and this principle. It allows you to live your life to the fullest and the way to live your life to the happiest you can be.

The Importance of Setting and Achieving Goals
The first step to setting effective goals is to know what it is you want. The key word in the last sentence is “you”. It is what you want that is important, not what others want for you or for themselves through you. If you don’t want to achieve your goal, you certainly won’t. Conversely, if you have a burning desire to achieve your goal, you surely will. Next, focus on outcome, not performance. Don’t worry about how you are going to achieve your goal, concentrate only on the outcome. Focus on your vision for the goal category. Make your goals specific. Make your goals realistic, understand the criteria for effective goals it is time to begin translating your wishlist into a goal plan.

Student Led Conference
Reflection: The student led conference went very well because I made sure to follow all procedures. I made sure to tell my mom everything, and allow my grades to be shown. I told her I would work very hard as well as raise my grades. TO improve the student led conferences I would make it an option to come or do it at home because it was very difficult to bring my parent here.

Walk a mile in my shoes
If I could be you, if you could be me
For just one hour, if we could find a way
To get inside each other's mind
If you could see you through my eyes
Instead your own ego I believe you'd be
I believe you'd be surprised to see
That you've been blind
Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Now if we spend the day
Throwin' stones at one another
'Cause I don't think, 'cause I don't think
Or wear my hair the same way you do
Well, I may be common people
But I'm your brother
And when you strike out
You're tryin' to hurt me
It's hurtin' you, Lord HAVE mercy
Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Now there are people on reservations
And out in the ghetto
And brother there, but, for the grace of God
Go you and I,
If I only had wings of a little angel
Don't you know, I'd fly
To the top of a mountain
And then I'd cry, cry, cry
Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes (3X)
This was a very inspirational song because it made me consider thinking of it in someone elses point of view.

PQRST
The PQRST Method. This five step process helps you synthesize reading materials and prepare for a test. This is a good to do with study partner or group, but you could do it on your own. Begin this process several days before the exam.
1) Preview: look over the course syllabus, your written notes, and the headings and sub-headings of the assigned reading. This provides an overview of the content and concept you will be studying.
2)Question: develop a list of questions, including those
- Created from the headings and subheadings in the reading
- From your written notes
- Discussed in class
- Provided at the end of chapters
- Given on the study guide (if one is provided)
- That you have about the topic
*For example, if a major heading or subheading is "phase of the moon" then ask yourself, what are the phases of the moon.
3)Read: Read the assigned reading and your written notes, and look for answers to your study questions. Headings and subheadings should help guide your search. Keep an eye out for other information to add to your list of questions. Reflect on what you read, and connect new materials to what you already know.
4)State: in your own words, say aloud and/or write down the answers to your study questions. Use mnemonic devices, concepts such as diagrams, analogies, and/or other study strategies to aid your memory and understanding in this process. A list of study strategies is provided on handout 3.10.3.
5) Test: Answer your study questions without looking at your notes or reading, and then check to see if your answers are correct and complete. Your brain needs to absorb and apply new information, so test and retest over several study sessions.
7 Tips for Taking Tests
Try the following 7 test-king tips on your next quiz or test:
1. Skim over the test, and estimate the amount of time you will spend on each section.
2. Read the directions carefully. What are you being asked to?
3. For multiple choice questions, read and answer the choice before marking your answer.
4. If you are not sure of the answer, read the choices again. If you are still not sure, move on to the next question. After answering the questions you are sure of, go back to any you have skipped.
5. Eliminate the answer choice that you know are wrong. Then choose your answer from the ones that remain.
6. When you asked to fill in blanks, substitute one of the choices into the blank at a time, and read the resulting sentence(s). Which choice sounds right?
7. For your essay question, first jot down the main points you want to make, and use these as an outline for your essay. Afterwards, read it through. Does your answer make sense, and is it reasonably complete?

I'm also going to Six Flags on my birthday with my friends so that'll be cheeked off. I'm dying my hair soon so that'll be checked off. I do stretches everyday, and try to do yoga and practice violin. I am also trying to do what I can to meet my favorite celebrities

Winter
1) Wake up early. Nothing eats away the Winter break like moping around beneath the covers. Decide the previous day when you will get out of bed and make sure to follow through.
During the first few days of vacation, chances are that you will relish the opportunity to sleep in. It's okay to do this and give yourself a break, because your body will naturally put itself on a schedule to wake itself up earlier.
2) Maintain good health and hygiene. Brush your teeth and bathe often. Make sure to use sunblock even in the cold and remember that the only healthy tan is spray-on! Winter is a great time to get in shape, or to stay in shape. Consider joining a sport, or, at the very least, get outside and have fun everyday.
3)Study. Particularly if you are a high school student, studying remains essential even through the school year is in short recess. Loom over last year's notes, or do some research what next years courses have in store, When school resumes, you'll be grateful that your academic knowledge and skills have not deteriorated, you'll be ready and not panicked that you don't know something. Most of you already know if you have homework, reading or other research, stay on top of it. You will be grateful when you return to school! Keep your brain active. Read for school or pleasure, research your own interests, or even just get into crosswords puzzles.
4) Follow a routine. However loose, the structure will both motivate you and keep hours spent "doing nothing" to a minimum. Don't play to many video games and even if it might be cold go out for a few hours every week.
5) Join or volunteer group or some sort. All communities have some sort of soup kitchen, or place where someone might need your help or you can start by
6)Start a summer job.
7) Go a camp and learn something new.
8) Stay active in you society
9) Read at least one book.

5 Q's One Reflection
1) What direction do you see the U.S going? Why is it going in this direction? It's on a downward path because we are an awful society. We are awful people.
2) Why do SAT scores in the U.S. continue to go downward? SAT scores continue to go downward because students just don't care about them.
3) What are solutions to low SAT scores? Nothing, we can't change people's actions.
4) Make a bullet list of a few problems with education in California
-Bad Food
-Early start to school
-Brain doesn't function properly until around 10
-Too many unnecessary subjects
5) What are solutions to the California education problems? Have school days start later and end around 2, only make people take whatever classes are necessary.
6) "To educate a man in mind but not morals is to educate a menace to society" (Theodore Roosevelt)
Teaching no morals will create a revolution because he know what is right and wrong from the past t create a future, you don't need morals to be successful you need a solid foundation and a clear concept of what you choose to do. Not having morals doesn't make you a menace it makes you human. Most people don't have morals yes it would be okay to be taught morals but you need to see how to use your mind and have your morals on the side. You can't include your moral because you need to do something for everyone not just yourself.

Student Success Statement
"It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to the win that makes a difference."
Paul Bear Bryant
Paul Bear Bryant means you need to make a difference in someone, in something, in whatever. To make your mark in a start of advancement to being something revolutionary for the greater good, to do something inspiring. It's like the toy drive at school, it encourages students to help the less fortunate even by little means but a toy is a toy and you are helping and making a difference. It's to have the ability to create an opportunity for someone to help you and become a better person. In the end that's all to do become a better person for yourself and others.
